World Book Online
World book online is available from home.  Students need to get the login and password from their teachers, Mrs. Dillon or Mrs. Cole.  There is a younger students version that kindergarten students may enjoy.  Hope you will take advantage of this subscription that the county has supplied for us.
Library Classes
Students are learning their way around the library.
Kindergarten - Is learning that books are  shelved in ABC order, and beginning to practice with shelf markers.
First Grade - Is reviewing how to use a shelf marker and ABC order as well as making sure they know how to take care of library books.
I HAVE ALSO STARTED READING THE VIRGINIA CHOICE PRIMARY TITLES TO THE STUDENTS.  ONCE WE HAVE READ ALL 10 BOOKS, WE WILL VOTE ON OUR FAVORITE BOOK.  THIS IS A STATE WIDE READING PROGRAM.
Second Grade - is reviewing the different sections of the library. - Science, Recreation, etc.  They are also listening to Virginia Choice books so that they can vote as well.  We are trying to corellate library lessons with classroom objectives.
Third, Fourth and Fifth grade have a different list of Virginia Choice books to read them selves.  Please see the announcement below.
Third Grade - is practicing locating books in the library using ABC order and The Dewey Decimal System.  They will continue to work on these skills into the next grading period.
Fourth Grade  - has been using library resources to answer research questions.  Right now they are using the encyclopedia, and will go on to Atlas, Almanac, Dictionary, and non-fiction Books.
Fifth Grade - has begun breaking each of the Dewey sections down to see what type of books are in that section.  They are also improving research skills.
